Mattupetty

Mattupetty Dam is one of the must-see attractions in Munnar. Along with the lush, grassy hills, this area is home to a dam, a lake, and an exceptionally high-quality dairy farm. It is a lovely picnic location with expansive green tea plantations, a dam, and a picturesque reservoir. If you're lucky, you might see elephant herds ambling across Mattupetty's grassy hills.

The picturesque Kundala lake is surrounded by green valleys and majestic landscapes that almost every photographer wishes to photograph. To get the best photos, arrive early in the morning and watch as a blanket of clouds covers the lake and the first few rays of the sun create a magical atmosphere.

The largest wild population of Nilgiri Tahrs can be found in Eravikulam National Park, which is located in the Western Ghats of Southern Peninsular India. The wild, brown mountain goats have a commanding appearance that is emphasized by their bristly mane and swept-back horns.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

Along with its mist-covered hills, lush tea plantations, and charming towns, Munnar also draws tourists from far and wide due to its native wildlife, the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. The only known location in Kerala where the Star Tortoises can be found in this sanctuary. For these turtles, it is the only rehabilitation facility.

Many poets in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been inspired by the beauty and rarity of Neelakurinji. For poets, Neelakurinji is a representation of longing, love, and joy. During Neelakurinji's flowering season, when the expansive hills cover themselves in a blue carpet of blooms, it truly transforms into a fairytale landscape.

Pambadum Shola National Park

The park, which is situated in the eastern portion of the Southern Western Ghats, is about 35 km away from Munnar. The park is home to 22 species of trees, 74 species of herbs and shrubs, and 16 species of climbers thanks to its diverse range of habitats. Some of the animals that are frequently spotted in the park include the elephant, gaur, leopard, wild boar, sambhar, and common langur.
